How to program a key fob?

To set the key fob in most car models, you need to insert the key into the ignition, press and hold the key lock or unlock button, and then press and hold the button to start the car two to three times. When you hear the sound of the lock, pull the key, get out of the car, and test the results. The first step is to find the metal key hidden in the key case and remove it. To do this,  press the small metal button on the top of the fob and release the key. Take out the key and put it aside.

Open the key fob:

Next, using a hidden key to open the box fits perfectly into the square slot. If your car key fob is an older model, you must use a flat-blade screwdriver or similar to open the fob. Open the case by inserting a screwdriver or flat tool into the small slot in the case and turn it.

 Access the battery chamber:

When the main cover opens, you will see a circuit board inside. To access the dead battery underneath, lift up the circuit board or remove it.

Before buying a new battery, check what type of battery your key fob uses and how to fit it into the case. It is a good idea to take a picture of your battery so that you can easily refer to the picture when purchasing or assembling the battery. Most Toyota motherboards use CR2032 batteries. These batteries can be found online and at most major retailers. Another way to determine what type of battery your vehicle needs is to read your vehicle vendor’s manual. The manual should provide detailed information on the type of battery to use and how to properly replace it. Make sure you buy the right type and size. Otherwise, it may not work.

Once you have a spare battery, you can remove the old battery from the key fob. Carefully insert the new battery in the same place as the old battery. Once in place, place the circuit board back on top of the new battery and set the two parts of the main panel together. That’s all.

Test if it is working fine:

After sealing the fob, you should test it to make sure everything is OK. Unlock and lock your car doors. Open the trunk and test if the alarm works. If everything works fine, congratulations. You have successfully replaced the battery in my key fob. Open it again and check that the battery is installed in the correct place and that the battery compartment is in the correct position if it does not respond to commands.
